Volunteering Abroad.

There must have been a couple of times that I have had debates about volunteering abroad with some of my friends/acquaintances... One school of thought was that it is often more detrimental to volunteer abroad than the world already is status quo...
However, one thing I have always believed in (even though volunteering abroad or 'volunteerism' seemed to have attracted so much negative press over the years, is that, action is always better than inaction. And this applies to that high-school graduate who is taking a gap year to volunteer abroad, or even to that college kid volunteering just a couple of weeks over the summer break in a developing country... Because, regardless of the degree or depth of change that is happening internally within this volunteer, a change is taking place. And these changes would manifest in their choices, in the ways they lead their lives in future, however subtle or insignificant it might seem at first glance. And this, is how we make a positive change, at all. It all starts, really small, as a little spark within us. And this little spark, would be all it takes to start off a flame, to put action into positive change.

So, really, I still believe that ACTION is always better than inaction. That's my thought to this.

Every little positive change starts from us. That little spark.
